Chase Memory
- High Concept:
Run, jump, and slide your way across the city to catch a dog.
- Player Experience Goals:
Players will experience the speed and stamina of a well trained ninja.
- Genre:
Side-scrolling platform runner.
- Game play:
The player is able to run, jump across gaps and onto or over objects, and slide under obstacles. Running is done by either holding the left or right arrow key. Jumping is spacebar. Sliding is holding the down key while running and releasing the running key. The player gains speed up to a maximum while constantly running in a direction, while speed is lost by sliding, stopping, or changing direction. The player dies by hitting the ground or making contact with spikes. The player can than retry by pressing the up arrow key after dying. Win by reaching the dog at the end of the map on the right.
- Prototype goal:
To incorporate light freerunning mechanics in a side-scrolling platform runner.
- Features:
Simple movement, such as running, jumping, and sliding, are coupled with acceleration and deceleration mechanics, platforming, and obstacles. Also, dogs and ninjas on top of city buildings.
- Setting/Premise:
The player is a ninja who, for some reason, is on top of city buildings. He also has a bit of amnesia, and must catch a dog named 'Memory'.
- Story:
You wake up not knowing exactly who you are. Next to you is a dog, the tag says 'Memory', and you feel like the dog is the key to your lost...well, memory. But the dog ran away and you must chase it quickly!
- Target Audience:
Anyone from the age of 8 and up, and enjoys either platforming, running, sliding, jumping, ninjas, dogs, the sky, or the tops of city buildings.
- Play time:
2-6 minutes.
- Strategies:
Coordination, timing, and quick reactions to obstacles will lead to success. If the game seems to difficult, try slowing down.
